Welcome to Cherry Class.

My name is Ms Whittall. I am a Senior Leader and English Lead. I have been teaching for many years and love how varied it is. I enjoy helping and supporting children to learn and grow in confidence.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading and love to be outdoors and active. I enjoy both swimming with my family and cycling with my club.

Autumn topic – Britain at war

In this term’s topic, we will first study world war one and then world war two. We will look at the causes and effects of war. Our topic work will be enhanced through enjoyment of reading. We are going to read ‘Stay where you are and then leave’ by John Boyne and ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’ by Michelle Magorian.

Cherry Class Reminders

Cherry class PE days are Wednesday and Thursday. PE kit should stay in school and will be sent home at the end of every half term.

Children should have a named water bottle in school.

Please ensure that your children are wearing the correct uniform.

Home Learning:

Home learning is uploaded each week in the 'files' section at the bottom of this page. Homework is selected to support children's current learning. There will be three colours to choose from. Your child will be given a colour every Thursday. The colour will be found in the margin of their home learning book. Select and complete the colour your child has been set.

Homework will be handed out on Thursday to be completed and returned by the following Tuesday.

Spellings

Children will be given a list of 10 spellings a week to learn at home. They will have a spelling test every Tuesday.

The lists are saved in the files section.

Handwriting in Year 6

The National Curriculum states that for your child to achieve an expected standard in writing in year 6, they are expected to maintain legilibity in joined handwriting when writing at speed. Please support your child to write in a joined up style when completing homework.

Please see the letter formation expectation for Budbrooke in the files.
