Music

                                                             Welcome to Music at Budbrooke

The Subject Leader for Music is Mrs Lavelle

Please see below for Budbrooke's Music Development Plan

At Budbrooke, we are really excited about our music curriculum this year. To help us with our learning we follow the Charanga scheme, which has this academic year provided some fantastic, topics and units of work that the children will love! Each topic supports the new Model Music Curriculum for Key Stages 1 - 3.

Throughout the year the children will will be given lots of opportunities to take part in a range of musical performances both in and out of school. We will keep you posted on these! We have weekly singing assemblies learning a range of new songs linked to a specific theme. The children may also have music lessons delivered by a peripatetic music teacher.

December Update:

The Budbrooke Lantern Walk took place, Sunday 1st December to celebrate the start of the festive period.

The event, held in the heart of the community saw residents walking, from two locations in the village, to the final meeting place of the community centre. The children in Holly and Chestnut classes walked the route with their parents where they sang a number of Christmas carols.

The Budbrooke children then took to centre stage to perform three popular Christmas songs along with Makaton actions, the playlist included It was on a Starry Night, Feliz Navidad and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

Mrs Lavelle said: “The children aimed to spread joy to the heart of the community and they did not disappoint! I am so proud of how they collaborated to sing and warm the hearts of those in the crowd, with their festive cheer. The absolute joy on their faces shone bright and we had so much positive feedback from the community.

The leader of the event said: ‘We are so thankful to the pupils who performed for us at the Community Centre yesterday evening. Their faces shone and their joy and enthusiasm filled the room. You should be most proud of them!

It is lovely to be working together so that our community can see what wonderful things these children are doing in the school.’

Well done to everybody and a big thank you to all the parents for supporting and making the event possible. It was a wonderful event and a memorable experience for all.”
