Welcome to MFL at Budbrooke!
The Subject Leader for Modern Foreign Languages is Miss Fletcher
At Budbrooke, we strive for all pupils to develop a genuine interest and curiosity for Spanish as a foreign language. Our aim is to 'foster pupils' curiosity and deepen their understanding of their world' through learning a foreign language in from Years 3 to 6 in line with the National Curriculum. Pupils have plentiful and meaningful opportunities to practise listening to, speaking, reading and writing Spanish through discrete lessons and through incidental learning such as when taking the register or greeting teachers and pupils in the mornings. Although learning a foreign language at KS1 is not statutory, we aim to develop a love of language learning in Years 1 and 2 and to give the children the opportunity to take part in the European Day of Languages to help them to explore the world around them.
Our goal is to build a foundation and a love of language learning that our pupils can carry beyond Year 6 to secondary school.

European Day of Languages- EDL is celebrated accross Europe on the 26th of September every year.
It is a day to celebrate the diversity of languages spoken by people who are now living in Europe. It is a wonderful opportunity to inspire and encourage our children at Budbrooke to get involved and excited about learning a new language!
