Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium (PP)
What is pupil premium (PP)?
Introduced in 2011, pupil premium (PP) is additional funding for pupils who are looked after by the local authority, those who have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years (also known as Ever 6 FSM) and for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces. This funding is used to:
Raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities to reach their full potential
Support children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces
How was the pupil premium grant (PPG) calculated for the academic year 2023 – 2024?
The pupil premium grant for the academic year 2023 to 2024 was calculated linked to information given in the January 2023 school census. It included a pupil premium payment for each child who had registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years, those looked after by the local authority and the children of armed service personnel.
Who allocates and calculates the amount of the pupil premium grant (PPG)?
The DfE allocates the pupil premium grant (PPG) to schools and local authorities. It is calculated as below:
£1,455 per pupil for each Ever 6 FSM FTE pupil aged 4 and over in year groups reception to year 6, except where the pupil is allocated the LAC or post-LAC premium
£2,530 per pupil for each LAC and post-LAC in year groups reception to year 11
£355 for each pupil aged 4 and over in year groups reception to year 11 who is either an Ever 6 service child FTE or in receipt of pensions under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) and the War Pensions Scheme (WPS)
How is the pupil premium grant used at Budbrooke Primary School?
At Budbrooke Primary School, we provide all pupils with high quality teaching which is supplemented by interventions to support vulnerable learners, as and when required. The pupil premium grant (PPG) is allocated to initiatives throughout the academic year; ensuring that pupils in receipt of the grant are given the opportunity to reach their full potential, both academically as well as socially.
The School Leadership Team (SLT) and the Governing Body monitor the impact of all spending and interventions linked to the pupil premium grant.
